A positive approach addressing management styles and relationship issues for parents, teachers and children aged 3 to 7 years.
WHO do we work with?
(a) Children 3-7 year old who are experiencing behavioural and relationship difficulties at home and in their educational and/or pre-school setting.
AIM - to provide the children with a consistent and co-ordinated approach in the management of their behaviour by all key adults in their young lives. To develop within the children, skills, strategies and techniques to positively access family and school life.
(b) Their parents/carers who are experiencing difficulty in managing such behaviours at home and within the community.
AIM - To work within a group setting using a positive parenting approach. Working collaboratively with Teachers and the Butterfly Team.
(c) Their teachers/pre-school providers who are experiencing difficulty in managing such behaviours in the classroom and within the school community.

HOW do we work?
A one year programme:
Planned activities encourage positive social interaction, co-operative skills, language skills and the development of self-esteem and confidence.
Relaxation techniques enhance self-esteem and confidence and enable parents/children and teachers to feel calm and relaxed together.
Term 1
- The children and parents attend the Family Centre 1 day per week for approximately 10/12 weeks - working together with the Butterfly team - using management techniques based on clear instructions and positive reinforcement.
- The teachers/pre-school providers attend the Centre for an intensive training programme, based on the same management techniques of clear instructions and positive reinforcement.
- During those 10 weeks the Butterfly team spend time in the home and school, role modelling the language and strategies taught at the Centre.
- The children and parents no longer attend the Centre.
- The Butterfly Team still spend time in the home and school, role modelling strategies.
- The Butterfly team withdraw from home and school.
- Parents/teachers can contact the Butterfly team if needs be.
