About Us
The Information Unit is part of the Information & Technology Service, within Resources and Support, and is based at Oldgate House.
Our Work
The Information Unit manages the collection, validation, maintenance and analysis of data relating to children and young people across the Kirklees area. The aim of the team is to provide access to good quality data and information to support the Every Child Matters agenda.
Responsibilities
- Carries out tasks related to the management and analysis of data and specialises in data collection, database management, statistical analysis and modelling, understanding of school-based systems and support in management information and data issues
- Collects, processes and analyses data relating to statutory and non-statutory tests for all pupils, ensuring that accurate and validated information is available to managers, schools and external agencies
- Provides schools with analysed pupil attainment data, school profiles and benchmarking materials for their own use in performance analysis and target setting
- Supports schools in the transfer of pupil data, the collection and validation of the School Census and the implementation of the Common Basic Data Set
- Management of the LA central pupil level database and the integration with other child level systems
- Production of accurate and meaningful performance indicator information to support the aims and objectives of the Service, to assist in monitoring service improvement and to support the inspection process
- Provision of a wide range of management information, to senior managers and multi-agency colleagues, via a variety of methods and in numerous formats
- Provision of advice and guidance to support the development of new information systems across the Service
- Provide support to the national child index and assisting in the improvement of data quality across the LA and partner agency systems
