Background

Through marketing we aim to involve staff in a co-ordinated marketing strategy which supports the Children and Young People Service's aims and values and promotes a positive image. Based at the Deighton Centre in Huddersfield, the marketing department is a core and central function within business support working with a number of departments throughout the Service and the Council.

Our Work

All work completed by the department is in line with the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda.

In addition to departments within the Council, the marketing department also works with external partners such as a distribution agency, various printers, bookshops, media companies and many more.

The focus of our work is both reactive and proactive. Reactive with regard to analysing customer requirements in relation to the educational sector based on aspects such as curriculum changes and DfES directives. Proactive by working with staff to ensure the Service embraces and provides delivery to match sector requirements. This for example would include the production of up to date educational publications (designed and published within the department), promotion of courses and event management.

One copy of all new publications is provided free of charge to Kirklees schools upon request, resources are also sold at a cost effective premium nationally and internationally.

The department has an agreed annual income target, however resources are produced primarily to aid Service delivery within Kirklees schools. Production of these materials which include books, DVD's, video's and CD-ROMs are partially funded by external income generation. The department also publishes educational resources which can be downloaded from our website free of charge.

Marketing also produces the annual Continuous Professional Development brocuhre. Should you require a copy, please contact us or visit the Marketing homepage to view the brochure online.
