The Secondary Strategy ICT Focus
The Secondary Strategy for ICT is based on
discrete, whole-class teaching of ICT for at
least one hour per week, supplemented by meaningful
opportunities for pupils to apply and develop
their ICT capability in other subjects.

The Framework for Teaching
ICT Capability
This is the key document for the KS3
ICT strategy. It gives practical advice
on meeting NC requirements and sets out
yearly teaching objectives which cover
the full programme of study.
Interactive Teaching and Active Learning
The document 'What does a Strategy lesson
look like?' highlights the strategy focus
on interactive teaching and active learning,
with whole classes involved in high quality,
collaborative and lively activities.
Effective Plenary
The recommended lesson structure includes
an engaging starter as well as a concluding
plenary. Effective lessons may, of course,
include several cycles of main activity
and plenary. There is flexibility in lesson
structure to take account of the different
timings and organisation needed in different
parts of a topic, and structure should
never stifle variety and creativity.
