Video Conferencing Getting going with JVCS
- Getting Going with JANET video conferencing service(JVCS)
The JVCS provides high quality videoconferencing services nationally to Higher, Further Education and schools throughout the UK.
- The JVCS provides a simple online Booking Service for arranging video conferences.
- Once a school videoconferencing venue is registered with the JVCS Booking Service, schools can arrange video conferences with other schools, colleges, universities, museums, galleries, libraries and other content providers throughout the UK and in other countries.
- Video conferences may be point-to-point, between two schools or a school and another organization or multipoint, involving at least one school and two or more other schools.
- Organizations which are not already registered with the JVCS Booking Service can be brought into video conferences as guests.
- The JVCS Management Centre dials out to each venue at the start of every video conference ensuring that no uninvited venues can join a video conference.
ITCAS will support schools registering with JVCS to help them:
- obtain their E164 number (this is their unique video conference dialing number)
- discuss equipment and connections
- register their videoconferencing equipment with the JVCS Booking Service.
During the registration process, every videoconferencing system undergoes a brief quality assurance assessment to ensure that all video conferences connect successfully.
In order to use JVCS schools will need to purchase the Polycom PVX software in addition to a web camera.
