Video Conferencing Getting going guides
- Getting Going with Skype
In order for schools to use Skype they must download the Skype software and purchase a web camera. You may also need headphones with a microphone.
As you are setting up Skype you will be asked for your name - you should not use a name which wll identify yourself or the school. When asked for your location you should enter England.
It is also very important when you set up Skype that you set the Privacy settings to only allow calls from people in your contacts list. (i.e. people you know who have a Skype address) Otherwise you could receive a call from a stranger. Instructions for this are included in the documents below.
- This website includes some useful support on introducing Skype to a class for a particular project. There is also a video which talks you through downloading and setting up Skype.
