- Report on Biometrics Systems
This report is a condensed version of an academic assignment I undertook recently for a course I am studying. I sent a brief email out to all schools in Kirklees asking if anyone was currently using a system that included biometrics and would like to thank everyone who replied - particularly those to whom I subsequently spoke.
I found this subject fascinating and enjoyed putting the report together - and am glad to say I received quite a good result towards my MSc (in Information & Knowledge Management.) It does not however, include any strong recommendations for schools who may be thinking about purchasing a system that uses biometrics, but rather, a set of issues that should be considered carefully.
My strongest recommendation is that you read the BECTA guidelines - available at:
http://www.becta.org.uk/
and also the DCSF guidelines published on the Teachernet website at:
http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/_doc/9133/
Contact Clive Williams in ITCAS to discuss the range of options that are available to schools.
If you have any comments on the report or would like to read it in its entirety, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
