Schools Health & Safety Training Courses

Following the very positive feedback from the Health and Safety courses run by ChYPS for the last two years, more in depth training is being offered to Schools and others with Health and Safety roles.

Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely in Schools (2 day course)
This course's target audience includes head teachers, bursars, deputies, heads of department and others with health and safety roles. This course will also be of benefit to Governors with health and safety responsibilities. Senior Managers would take much away from the course in terms of their own strategic functions and the local perspective in Kirklees schools. The course aim is to ensure that the safety requirements for schools are appreciated by those given health and safety responsibilities and to enable them to review their own systems for safety, introducing new controls or implementing changes as appropriate to raise the standards of school safety. The course requires two full days of classroom based study, separated by a period of home / work based study during which, e-mail support is provided by the course provider. This 'blended learning' format provides the benefits of direct contact with trainers whilst limiting cost and delegates time away from school. In order for an IOSH "Managing Safely in Schools" certificate to be issued, delegates should successfully complete papers and projects which are then assessed and moderated by the Institution.

Essential Health & Safety for School Premises

This course has been designed for people with strategic managerial responsibilities for school premises, and to ensure that they are aware of the systems and procedures which must be in place to comply with current Health and Safety legislation. It is to ensure that all those with premises management responsibilities in schools have the core knowledge and skills to successfully carry out their roles and those managed by them including caretakers.
