- Guidance for schools wishing to holding a presentation evening for Primary parents
- Download a Powerpoint presentation for parents - caution - it is a large file.
Primary schools are becoming increasingly concerned about issues related to e-safety, which may begin at home, where children have greater access to unfiltered Internet use, but spill over into issues affecting behaviour in school. In many cases pupils are using the internet at home or in a friends house without their parent's knowledge or understanding of the risks involved. Schools may feel that one approach is to hold an evening specifically for parents to air some of the issues. The following Powerpoint has been created to support schools in presenting a session for parents.
You may amend and adapt the presentation to suit your own school's needs. It focuses on the two main aspects of the internet with which primary pupils engage, using Instant Messaging and cyberbullying using a mobile phone, a;though other areas are covered. It also emphasizes the many positive aspects of internet use for Primary aged pupils. Each slide has notes attached which help to explain the main message on the slide.hese can be printed out for the presenter. Two videos are used to illustrate the points being made. It is recommended that schools view these before use as they do have a very strong message and may not be suitable for all audiences.
