This is an extremely thorough document published by the government which sets out their strategy for keeping students safe online. It includes a wide range of plans to improve knowledge and understanding of the issues, including teaching in training, parents, Ofsted Inspectors and in Local Authority Children's Trusts.

TeachToday provides resources for teachers on the responsible and safe use of new communications technologies.
It is supported by Europe's leading internet, mobile network, mobile content and social networking providers, working in partnership with European Schoolnet, to help teachers understand new mobile and internet technologies, including social networking; know what action to take on issues and find resources to support the teaching of positive, responsible and safe use of ICT. It is an good starting point for teachers looking for information and guidance on e-safety.
The site now includes a very good introductory video which highlights the issues a school can face, both from the students and the teacher's perspective.

Wired safety
WiredSafety provides help, information and education to Internet and mobile device users of all ages. We help victims of cyber-abuse ranging from online fraud, cyber-stalking and child safety, to hacking and malicious code attacks. We also help parents with issues, such as MySpace and cyberbullying.

This resource for teachers parents and pupils has been created by Microsoft and MSN in conjunction, together with Childnet International, NSPCC, Child line and others. There are links to teaching resources, including presenter notes and lesson plans for the Know it all materials. There are also links to resources created for children and for parents.

Get Safe Online, the UK's first national Internet Security Awareness Campaign, is a joint initiative between the government, the National High-Tech Crime Unit and private sector sponsors. The campaign web site: www.getsafeonline.org provides clear, reliable and practical internet security advice, enabling even the most vulnerable users to protect themselves while online. These pages provide supporting materials specially designed for young people, for their teachers and for their parents and carers with interactive scenarios, quizzes, "ready to go" lesson plans and advice.
