Safer Recruitment Training

The Government’s Guidance “Working Together to Safeguard Children” (2006) states that ‘all agencies and individuals should aim to proactively safeguard and promote the welfare of children so that the need for action to protect children from harm is reduced.’ Local authorities and schools have a duty to carry out their functions under the Education Acts with a view to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children under Section 175 of the Education Act 2002.

From 2010, it is a statutory requirement that all Selection Panels must contain at least one person who has completed the Safer Recruitment training.

It is also an Ofsted expectation that headteachers and governors have undertaken the NCSL Safer Recruitment Training.

We have arranged a series of training sessions for headteachers, school governors, members of senior leadership team in schools and LA officers in addition to the option of on-line training. The Safer Recruitment training is now available to in Kirklees as a FREE full day course, led by accredited LA tutors. We have arranged the training on a varied basis to enable you to choose the most convenient date, time and day.
24 February, 9.00 - 4.00 at Junction 25
10 March, 9.00 - 4.00 Junction 25
16 March, 9.00 - 4.00 Deighton
25 March, 9.00 - 4.00 The Mirfield Centre

Please book your place in the usual way through INSET on-line via your CPD Co-ordinator in school.

We would be delighted to deliver the training to groups of schools, this could include governors and staff, as we believe that this would encourage greater engagement and involvement in training sessions. Please contact Baljit Birring to discuss this further:
