Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme 2010

A new piece of legislation called the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme is coming into force for the Council on 1st April 2010. Under this legislation, the Council has a legal obligation to account for all of its carbon emissions from building energy use including schools. It will become compulsory for the Council to ensure good carbon management practice and therefore we need to liaise closely with you to ensure the information we hold centrally is accurate. This will help us to identify where we are using too much energy and where we could save money.

Gritting update for schools 6 January 2010

As of 5 January 2010 Building Services had almost run out of grit. Highways cannot restock Building Services as they are preserving supplies for the roads. Until Highways receive further deliveries it is unlikely that Building Services will be able to grit Schools. All other alternative supplies of grit have been tried. This situation is being monitored daily. Gritting will resume as grit is received by Building Services.
